SMT reel
storage carts

Organize component reels for kitting, line-side storage and transfer between workstations. YC ESD SMT reel carts have double-sided hanging rods and a base tray, with 6, 7 or 8 tiers and 60–120 total hanging positions across both sides. Choose a configuration to suit your reel sizes, required storage quantity and available floor space.

Position counts include both sides: 6 tiers × 10 positions per tier gives 60 positions in total. Actual reel capacity depends on reel dimensions, usable rod length and loading clearance; one hanging position does not necessarily equal one reel. This table covers carts with a base tray. Check the loading layout against your reels before ordering.

YC ESD product information · Updated

Which reel dimensions are needed to select a cart?

Provide each reel’s outside diameter, overall width and center-hole diameter, together with the quantity of each size. If reels will remain in bags, include their packed dimensions. These measurements help determine rod spacing, tier clearance and room to load and remove reels. Use the overall reel width when planning storage, as carrier-tape width is a separate measurement.

60- and 72-position SMT cart dimensions

The 60-position cart measures 1000 × 500 × 1600 mm; the 72-position cart measures 1200 × 500 × 1600 mm (L × W × H). Position counts include both sides. Reel diameter, width and access clearance determine the number of reels that fit.

72-position SMT cart: 1200 × 500 × 1600 mm (L × W × H; positions include both sides)

SMT cart tiers and base designs

Compare three- and seven-tier layouts, shallow trays, deep base bins and green base panels. Select the arrangement around reel sizes, access needs and the space beside your line. Include the required hanging positions, materials and load capacity when requesting a quote for these configurations.

Reel loading and knock-down shipping

Reels sit along rods on both sides of the cart, with space needed to load and remove them. Bolted construction allows the cart to be disassembled for shipping, with long uprights packed separately. Include your preferred delivery and assembly arrangement in the inquiry.

Selection and ordering questions

Does a 60-position SMT reel storage cart hold 60 reels?

60 refers to the total hanging positions across both sides. Actual reel capacity depends on reel diameter and width, usable rod length, tier clearance and the loading arrangement. Send your reel dimensions and quantities so the layout can be selected for the number of reels you need to store.

Is carrier-tape width enough to specify an SMT reel cart?

Please provide the reel’s outside diameter, overall width and center-hole diameter. Overall reel width includes more than the carrier tape and is the measurement needed to plan storage. A dimensioned drawing or measurement photo is useful; include packed dimensions if reels will remain in bags.

How should I choose between 6, 7 and 8 tiers?

Consider reel diameter, loading and removal clearance, and available floor space. Carts with the same tier count can have different numbers of hanging positions. Include your reel sizes and quantities, plus any limits on cart height or width, when requesting a recommendation.

Is the knock-down SMT reel cart a folding cart?

These carts use bolted construction. They disassemble by removing fasteners rather than folding on hinges. Specify whether you need assembled or disassembled delivery, and request the packing dimensions and assembly details for your chosen configuration.

Is an SMT reel storage cart the same as a feeder cart?

Reel storage carts hold component reels. Feeder carts hold feeder units and often need mounting interfaces matched to a placement machine. For the carts on this page, select by reel dimensions. If you need feeder storage, include the feeder model and mounting details in your inquiry.

What should I include if the reel cart will be used in an ESD-controlled area?

Include your required ESD performance, floor and grounding conditions, and acceptance checks. A stainless steel frame alone does not determine the electrical performance of the complete cart. The casters, connections and grounding arrangement also need to suit the intended work area.

What details are needed for an SMT reel-cart quotation?

Include the preferred configuration, reel dimensions, quantities of each reel size and the number of carts. Add handling or ESD requirements, your preference for assembled or disassembled delivery, and the destination country and city. For shipping estimates, specify port or address delivery and attach a layout or reference photo if available.
